About the Chalet La Côte
The summer chalet is a traditional Alpine chalet in the Alps near Lake Geneva in France. The chalet is surrounded by spectactular mountains and forests with magnificent views over the village of La Chapelle d’Abondance. The chalet has a ‘cuckoo clock’ look and dates back to the 18th century. The summer chalet has been restored in antique alpine wood and alpine decor in the 5 bedrooms and is situated on its own private grounds with a swimming pool.
The summer chalet offers a cosy welcoming atmosphere.The summer chalet has a large living room with a fireplace and a beautiful mezzanine that sets the scene in the comfortable lounge area.The quaint dining room has a low wooden beamed ceiling and wood clad walls.Each of the five large bedrooms are wooden panelled with alpine décor and magnificent views of the valley

La Chapelle d’Abondance

La Chapelle d’Abondance is an ancient Alpine village in the Haute Savoie. It is a farming community with an air of charm and with rustic wooden chalets dotted throughout the valley. It oozes character and has a magnificent church in the middle of the village.

There are three friendly bars and six very good restaurants and a pizzeria as well as an Epicerie where you can buy fresh bread and croissants.
There are stylish sport and souvenir shops and cinema and for those who like the nightlife there is a lively club three miles away in Chatel.

Lake Geneva has a mediterranean feel with beeches and large pools where you can swim in comfortably warm temperatures and has boating activities.

Activities

Activities  in the area are plentiful with beautiful walks and mountain trails. There is mountain biking, white water rafting, paragliding, riding, swimming,tennis and water skiing on Lake Geneva which is only 25 minutes from the chalet. A picnic setting beside a stream surrounded by wild flowers is just one of the delights in store for you. On Bastille Day the 14th of July there is a magnificent firework display in the village and the following evening in Chatel. There is a market in La Chapelle village on a Friday and a Féte in July. Each village holds a féte with entertainment during the day and dancing and dining in the evening.

Montreux Jazz Festival 

The famous Montreux Jazz Festival 5th-20th July with the group ‘Sting’ playing which is only 35 minutes from the chalet. 14th July Bastille day in France with fantastic firework displays

1st August

National Swiss day 1st August has fetes in every town and village which magnificent firework displays. The Swiss National Day is the national holiday of Switzerland, set on 1 August.

Evian

Evian, a lovely old town on the edge of the lake surrounded by trees and lawns is also only 40 minutes drive away. Here you can sunbathe or swim in the lake and it is well worth a visit to where Evian Water originates. Here there are some excellent cafés and restaurants on the lakeside.

Chamonix

There is also a visit available to Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc,
the highest mountain in Europe.

Getting There

By car
We advise on bookings on P & O Ferries from Dover to Calais. You should allow 10 hours driving time for the journey from Calais to La Chapelle d’Abondance through Switzerland. There are good stretches of motorway with few tolls and we will send you a map for the journey with instructions at your request.

Directions to the Chalet when you arrive in La Chapelle d’Abondance.

In the centre of the village there is the Office de Tourisme which has arches,turn up passed the cinema carry on up the road which passes the Hotel Vieux Moulin.Carry on up through the forest (the chalet is 1km from the village) then you take the road to the right that goes over bridge (with green railings) follow the road up and the chalet is at the end of the road. N.B. You may need an SF40 available from any AA centre or the Swiss border for travelling through Switzerland.

By air
We can advise on reasonably priced flights with Easyjet to Geneva from most major Airports.
There are also reasonable car hire firms in Geneva Airport

By rail
The T.G.V. high speed train is reasonably priced and will get you from Calais to Thonon in 4 ½ hours.

Prices are based in UK pounds. The rental includes

Five bed rooms twin or double 4 en suite
Beds made up with duvet covers and under sheets
Fresh towels, Full equipped kitchen
Barbecue outside table and seating, Swimming pool outdoors
Parking, Large living room, Sky TV, Childrens facilities, Internet Wifi

The price is based on 12 people in the group.
There is a supplement of £129 for every person more than 12 in the group maximum of 12 in the chalet.

Bookings are available up to the second weekend in September.
There is a charge of 100 £ for the cleaning lady at the end of the week.
